PART 1: GENESIS With the concluding of an Ice Age, the four tribes that had built cities and survived on top of the ice for several thousand years were nervous of the impending Great Flood. They met at a place called the Corner Seats of Leval and each proposed their own plan of survival. The Zarus tribe sent their people below the ice and water and under the crust of the Earth, but they either never made it or burned up when then did. The Trembabel tribe constructed a massive tower in which they hoped to avoid the flood altogether, but it ended up sinking anyhow to the bottom of the Marianas Trench and became known in legends as the Tower of Babel. (The technology in the Tower was almost identical to the technology that would later build OmniZords.) The Legii tribe built a large fleet of ships to endure the rising waters but they were unable to withstand the force the floodwaters created and all but one, belonging to the man who would be known ages later as Noah, were destroyed. The Oryon tribe built a massive space colony (similar to Lost Galaxy's Terra Venture) and successfully launched with the mission of discovering a new world. The Oryon tribe's leader, a woman, delivered a baby during the long journey and named him "Omnis." Being the only child born during the trip that survived, he was also given the name "Starborn." On the day Omnis was named, a prophet saw some terrible visions that were passed down but frighteningly avoided in legend. The Oryon tribe reached a planet that suited their needs and began colonizing immediately. PART 2: RELEASE After he turned 21 years old, Omnis Starborn's mother died of natural causes and he assumed the title of High Lord. In the same time frame, three important discoveries were made about the new planet: that a special metal seemed to absorb power from the star that served as their sun and by wearing it one could control that power, three mysterious seals each with a different engraving buried underground, and the discovery of volumes of blueprints for technology so far advanced from what they knew it was impossible to comprehend it all. By combining the first discovery with the third discovery, scientists were able to create six devices to be worn on the arm called "OmniTech" before they realized that creating a seventh seemed to overload the devices and render them all useless. Thus, by being the first to use OmniTech, Omnis Starborn was the first to morph into the White Ranger. He selected three other men and two women to test the Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, and Pink Ranger powers. Meanwhile, researchers probing the three seals made the mistake of trying to chip off a sliver of one, resulting in its complete crumbling into several pieces. They repeated it with the second seal. Exciting, they hurried to Omnis Starborn to repeat the process on the third seal. Doing that, however, covered the entire new planet in darkness, and the researcher who demonstrated was instantly sucked into a portal that appeared out of nowhere. He re-emerged from the portal possessed by a demon, who informed the Starborn that he planned to conquer this universe just as he had done to the perpendicular universe (Hell) he had come from. Omnis and the other five Omni Rangers continuously fought with the creature, who not only possessed one of their own people but wielded an incredibly strong power that required all six of them combined to withstand. They collected the three broken seals and attempted to patch them back together, but the technological encyclopedias they had found said it would take three thousand years for OmniTech to acquire enough energy (approximately 50% of its maximum) to safely reform all three seals. So instead they built a new underground shrine for the seals, called Terra Memoria, and stored all of their most precious belongs inside it. A palace/fortress was constructed around and above it to ensure the demon could never discover the place. Omnis himself recorded a message for whoever wielded the OmniTech three thousand years from now. Twenty-five years later, the Starborn, being the first to use OmniTech regularly, went insane, and with heavy hearts the other Rangers killed him and gave his White Ranger power to his daughter. When the other five Rangers subsequently lost their minds, it was she who single-handedly defeated them and realized the twenty-five year period was connected to an OmniTech user's sanity. Therefore she picked five new Rangers and created a standard set of rules to follow. The Red Ranger was the leader and statistician of the team, the Yellow Ranger was the scientific and emotional base, the Blue Ranger was pure of heart, the Pink Ranger would promote enjoyment of life, and the Green Ranger would serve as a religious role model to everyone. She founded the guidelines of the Lineage religion, as well, and established churches and procedures for holy men and women. Omni's daughter knew that remaining steadfast against the Eternal Demon would require a lot of hard work and dedication from everyone on the new planet, which she named Omnis in honor of her father. PART 3: SACRIFICE After three thousand years of using monsters from perpendicular dimensions and its own dark powers, the Eternal Demon possessed a man named Daermos and kidnapped the White Ranger Kerith's mother and father, Lady Psellea (a descended of the Starborn) and Lord Corsterac. She confronted the Demon, who demanded her OmniTech Ability Band in exchange for the return of her loved ones. Agreeing to the bargain, partial because of the pleas of her own mother whom the Demon had tricked into feeling compassion for it, she broke the Omnian laws and handed over the device, despite the objection of her companion the ex-Green Ranger Rzodin. Daermos sent powerless Kerith and Rzodin into a perpendicular universe where evil had already conquered then abandoned Corsterac and Psellea to fend for themselves. Rzodin, however, had stuck his Lifeblade through the portal, so even though Daermos thought it was closed, the former Ranger was able to re-open the gate and escape with Kerith, despite being pursued by evil creatures. Back on Omnis, Red Ranger Nove, Pink Ranger Mulkae, and the other Omni Rangers defeated the creatures and escorted Rzodin and Kerith back to the royal palace where the Demon was headed. While the five Rangers kept Daermos engaged within the palace, Kerith found and unlocked Terra Memoria, and saw the ancient recording Omnis Starborn had made. She took the broken seals and carried them up to the Omni Rangers. Kerith then retrieved her OmniTech from the Demon and, although it was tainted, it was still useful. Together the six Rangers reformed the seals, but not before Daermos opened another portal to the evil universe and attempted to suck them all in. Psellea, Kerith's mother, who felt guilty after believing the lies Daermos had told her, sacrificed herself by grabbing the physical embodiment of the Eternal Demon and pulling it through the portal along with her, just before the seals were completed and all gates between universes were permanently closed. Kerith separated the remaining OmniTech into two parts. She gave the Starlight half to her infant son; she gave the Black Hole half to Rzodin who locked himself inside Terra Memoria. The High Lord sentenced her to banishment in outer space. She gave the Trinity Seal to Rzodin, the Seal of Meridian-Omega to the High Lord, and took the Spirit Seal with her into deep space. Unknowingly, like a cancer, the Starlight and Black Hole powers continued to grow unchecked, but balanced against one another. Whoever wielded the penultimate powers could not die of natural causes, so Rzodin lived on for thousands of years, while Starlight was passed from person to person. By some stroke of fortune, more often than not a descendent of the Starborn was chosen to wield Starlight. Kerith's prison ship eventually crashed on Planet LPZ12190 where, with her DNA introduced into this strange planet's ecosystem, humanity quickly evolved, which meant two new worlds now traced their roots back to Earth. PART 4: LIFE More than 2900 years later, Omnis had achieved a true utopian society. Occasionally unresolved issues in places far from the planetary capital of Omnis Palace would require the intervention of the Omni Rangers. High Lady Krismntan, around 1095 CE, established a permanent military force to protect their solar system from the invasion of Master Vile. These battles, collectively called the Security War, revealed that in addition to peace Omnis thrived and prospered in war. By 1918 CE, Omnis had three official worldwide divisions. First was the aforementioned military that was responsible for training soldiers, developing weapons, and was overseen by the Omni Rangers. Second was the scientific section that was always developing new projects and proposing advanced theories and laws; the most recent trend in science was the Solar Research Project that sent ships from the Meridian Eye series to collect data on Meridian-Omega and return to assess that information. Third was the state division, headed by the High Lord of Omnis, who kept limited reign in every part of Omnian life. In 1948 CE, 25-year-old Janoa, the daughter of the High Lord, was arranged to be married to 30-year-old Nyru, a technical genius who had taken over as head of the Solar Research Project and had proposed the current hot theory of Meridian-Omega being a focal point for all stray energy in the universe. At the same time, 33-year-old Arcanza, a low-level soldier with no royal ties, discovered the entrance to Terra Memoria below Omnis Palace where Rzodin was still alive and well, but not for long. Arcanza killed Rzodin in self-defense and, with its previous possessor dead, the Black Hole power was transferred to Arcanza. By spending time in Terra Memoria, Arcanza learned all about the Eternal Demon, the Seals of Hell, and ancient history from recorded records left by both the Starborn himself and Kerith. Putting pieces together, Arcanza realized he could fulfill one of the prophecies left by the Oryon tribe's prophet. Deciding it was his destiny, he proclaimed himself the Destroyer, the first member of the Trinity of Darkness that would rise to bring the Eternal Demon back into this world and unleash the fury of Hell on the Omnians and obtain greatness a lowly soldier would never know otherwise. Arcanza began preaching to the Omnian people and quickly made an enemy in the state portion of Omnis. The science division, however, was very malleable, because opening portals to other dimensions offered limitless studying ability, and if the Demon could provide them with eternal life, it would be a living paradise for them. The masses, too, growing disenchanted with a society where low class was low class and high class was high class, embraced Arcanza's words and formed Rapture Legion, a large network of those who waited for the day when the Eternal Demon would lift them up to places of power and worshipped the Trinity of Darkness as a mediator between them and it. Three men involved with the Solar Research Project, Corout, D'Aretiv, and Mnsomey, were promoted to overseers in Rapture Legion. In 1949 CE, a daughter Seraide was born to High Lady Janoa. The following year, though, Prince Nyru, next in line to the Omnian lordship, discovered his three fellow Solar Researchers were involved with the new evil religion that rejected the Lineage when they began researching how to intentionally make Meridian-Omega go supernova. Nyru exposed the existence of Rapture Legion and banished them from working. Later, however, Corout and Arcanza conspired together to destroy the main Solar Research facility and steal two of the spaceships, Meridian Eye II and Meridian Eye VIII. Caught in the explosion, Nyru was killed, widowing Janoa and leaving Seraide fatherless. Around this same time, a new team of Omni Rangers was being chosen by the current High Lord, led by Eztram, who as tradition demanded had been training all 25 years of his life to reach this point. Also as tradition ran, Eztram chose the newborn boy who would one day replace him when the OmniTech power was passed. A boy born to mother Clarit and father Krysen, Soleron, was appointed as such. Eztram then declared he would dedicate his generation of Omni Rangers to fighting Rapture Legion, and this final era of Omnian history became known as the Purity War. High Lady Janoa remarried. A dashing young man with charisma and a strong dedication to his world and his religion, Taerys stole Janoa's heart and together they nurtured a love very rarely seen among the upper class that more often than not arranged marriages based on convenience. In 1954 CE, Janoa delivered a healthy baby boy, whom she named Oriquin, but passed away during childbirth. Taerys promised to cherish her memory always and raised both Oriquin and Seraide to be honorable and intelligent children. Oriquin somewhat idolized Soleron, his elder by three years, and they often played together around the palace. When they were separated, Oriquin studied to one day become Lord of Omnis and Soleron to one day become the Red Omni Ranger. Simultaneously, Taerys and Eztram organized strikes against Rapture Legion, predicted retaliatory strikes, and defended the law-abiding people from evil. Fearing Arcanza possessed too much influence and too much power, Eztram secretly began the Secondary Home Population Project, moving Omnians a few at a time to Planet LPZ12190, where they helped the natives establish cities and societies. Arcanza, however, loved the constant fighting and chaos and stretched the Purity War out as long as he could. Finally, in 1974 CE, when Eztram was one year from passing on the OmniTech to Soleron, who Arcanza believed would focus on more tactical and effective ways of obliterating Rapture Legion, the shot heard around the universe was taken. PART 5: DEATH Taerys was visiting a city that had just recently been attacked and successfully repelled a Rapture Legion invasion. While congratulating the people on a job well done, Taerys was hit in the back of the head by a lightning fast, thin blast of pure black energy. Eztram recognized it as the Black Hole power, and knew Arcanza had done it. Laying in bed suffering, it was only a matter of time before Taerys would die. Oriquin, Seraide, Eztram, Soleron, a young Lineage priest named Talyserys (as a tribute to Lord Taerys, no less) who appeared older than he actually was because of the side effects of using a Lifeblade, and the lord's other attendants all kept bedside vigils over their fatally wounded ruler. Eztram gently urged Oriquin to select four other new Omni Rangers in addition to Soleron now in case Taerys was still is a coma when the time to pass the power came. Oriquin chose Talyserys, the artist Pyrial, the entertainer Laurasia, and his sister Seraide, and the ceremony was carried out immediately, albeit half a year early, so no time would be lost. Eztram then suggested Oriquin and the Rangers accompany the next Secondary Home Population Project movement onboard the ship Galaxy Hunter. At first Oriquin was hesitant, but when Taerys passed away, he was crowned High Lord of Omnis. The night before Oriquin's father's death and his coronation as High Lord, Arcanza, disguised as a wandering mage, confronted Oriquin and warned him if he did not decline the lordship of Omnis he would oversee its destruction. A month later, he learned the three overseers Corout, D'Aretiv, and Mnsomey had left on Meridian Eye VIII to go to Planet LPZ12190, "New Omnis." He took up Eztram's offer to accompany the next SHP Project. Galaxy Hunter was past the edge of the solar system when a dark premonition hit Oriquin and he ordered the ship to return home. As they drew closer, however, Soleron reported what was feared the most: Meridian-Omega was about to go supernova. Arcanza himself used Meridian Eye II and his evil allies' studies to initiate the process on purpose then went to rendezvous with them all on New Omnis. Oriquin watched safely but helplessly from the bridge of Galaxy Hunter as his home was engulfed by the explosion of the Central Star, then stunned as it suddenly became an implosion and left nothing but an empty hole, the Nexus, where the actual center of the universe used to be. Unknown to Oriquin, Eztram had succeeded in launching a final SHP Project ship and piloted it himself just minutes before the explosion. Onboard the other ship, and left alone with his thoughts, Oriquin had a visit from a Lightguide, a spiritual messenger free to move between the unconscious on this universe and the conscious of other universes. "On the path of vengeance lies devastation," the guide told him. "You will seek out the followers of darkness and succeed in your mission, but the price you will pay to the alien waters. Death haunts those who protect you, and he who hunts you, and you shall become that death. Changes will happen, many changes, ending all you have come to accept. The end of the road is unclear, but it leads to nothingness and loss. May the eyes of the chosen watch over you." Ignoring the warning, Oriquin ordered the Omni Rangers and the crew of Galaxy Hunter to set a course for LPZ12190 for the sole, final mission of unleashing revenge on Corout, D'Aretiv, and Mnsonemy, who they believed responsible for Omnis's destruction. It was Arcanza who was the real threat, though. And the Destroyer of Omnis waited impatiently for them to arrive. PART 6: ILLUSIONS The Purity War continued on New Omnis for three additional years. The biggest city on New Omnis, Jyt, had been seized by Rapture Legion, and they created a base of operations called Rapture Fortress, an obelisk in the center of the largest ocean. Twenty-seven survivors of Galaxy Hunter, including the Lord, the Omni Rangers, the teenager Rade, the mechanic Deuroic, a noblewoman Feilia, and others, organized and oversaw the resistance seeking to chase the Legion off the planet altogether. The resistance's greatest victory came with the capture of Arcanza. Just under two hundred natives who had joined the resistance, combined with information Deuroic had uncovered, made the capture themselves. Obviously, with Arcanza's unmatchable powers of the Black Hole, he allowed it to happen, and endured the torture and questioning he was subjected to. All the while he kept his "pet" falcon, Courier, at his side. No one suspected Courier was actually a living carrier and replicator of pseudoine, a dangerous DNA base that could cause horrible mutations and increase the natural abilities of anyone. During his containment, the avengers succeeded in killing Mnsomey and locating D'Aretiv, but Corout remained locked inside Rapture Fortress posing as the leader of the Legion. Oriquin ordered Soleron to purposely cause the planet's giant volcano to erupt, destroying Rapture Fortress but possibly the entire world of New Omnis in the process. The Red Ranger refused, creating a rift between the lifelong friends. Oriquin maintained his mission to eliminate his father's assassins at any cost. After D'Aretiv's death, and the certainty Corout would never emerge from the Fortress, Oriquin made a bargain with Arcanza: his freedom in exchange for killing Corout. Oriquin was still under the false impression that the three Legion overseers were responsible for his father's and his people's deaths. Arcanza agreed. A week later, life for the Omnians and New Omnians was drastically different. The report was Corout had been killed, and resistance forces were allowed to take control of the abandoned Fortress. Arcanza was still free, but the Legion was wiped out on New Omnis. Oriquin was preparing to launch Galaxy Hunter to search the universe for any other traces of Rapture Legion and put an end to them, as well. Unexpectedly, Soleron, who had been missing since the big fallout earlier, returned with Arcanza completely immobilized and Courier circling above. He revealed that Eztram was still alive here on New Omnis, that Oriquin had made a deal with the evil Arcanza, that Lord Taerys was really assassinated by Arcanza, and that Arcanza had raped recently-coronated New Omnis High Lady Feilia resulting in her pregnancy, and that Deuroic, who was at this moment preparing to launch Galaxy Hunter, was really a Legionnaire. Arcanza admitted his guilt and hatred of Oriquin and Soleron. But, with his thirst for vengeance quenched, Oriquin ordered Arcanza put into the prison cell and dismissed unsupported accusations against Deuroic. Arcanza had done much more during his period of freedom, though. First of all Corout and the Legion were not destroyed, but instead moved underground where they were instructed to wait for his return and keep the third Seal of Hell that they possessed intact. He told them his plan to be captured again and use a Legionnaire onboard the Rangers's ship to crash on a planet and kill them all then return and lay claim to New Omnis in the Demon's name. His rape of Feilia was an intentional act to leave a child on this planet. He had sired other children, but all except one, Salodis, had perished in Meridian-Omega's explosion. In addition, he collected more pseudoine from the wild beasts of New Omnis for Corout to study more in-depth. Then, he allowed himself to "stumble" across Soleron and lose a long, drawn-out realistic fight. After two years of traveling and finding no remaining trace of Rapture Legion, Deuroic revealed his allegiance to the Trinity of Darkness and put the ship on an automatic collision with the nearest planet, which, by coincidence, happened to be Earth, before committing suicide. Galaxy Hunter burned up as it passed through Earth's atmosphere and crashed into the Caribbean Sea. PART 7: REBIRTH As Oriquin was trapped below the waters of the Venezuelan Basin, he was visited by a second Lightguide, and proceeded to have a vision of warning from his father Taerys and his mother Janoa. It was during this period of unconsciousness when Oriquin unlocked the power of Starlight, and it was largely his subconscious efforts that kept himself and everyone of the submerged Galaxy Hunter alive. After a while, the Omnian lord was carried ashore, where the helpful hand of Professor Abner Donaldson waited. Professor Donaldson was studying ocean life on a small island a distance from the U.S. Virgin Islands at an American institute called Eurren Research Center. After discovering Oriquin on the shore of his island, he immediately organized a rescue mission to save the others who crashed in the sea. The Omnian revealed who he was, and the Professor never questioned the validity of his claims. In fact, he was even excited at the prospect of recovering several extraterrestrial lives. The Professor, Oriquin, and twelve rescuers boarded a boat big enough for thirty passengers and set out to the site of the crash. Rescuers saved Soleron, Rade, Talyserys, and Laurasia. Arcanza saved himself, and Pyrial, as he pulled himself onto the boat. Donaldson saved Seraide. Soleron immediately morphed and kept his Omni Blaster drawn at Arcanza. Donaldson was stunned at witnessing his first sight of morphing, and Rade explained how the process worked. Oriquin threw the Seal of Meridian-Omega into the Caribbean Sea, where it currently rests buried along the bottom. The Professor asked permission to examine the Omnians and Oriquin granted it, thus conceiving the Orion Projects. THE ORION FIVE PROJECTS Orion Project One: Alpha Complex. On the east side of the small city of Ivory Glade, Colorado, in August 1979, Abner Donaldson, with the help of Rade, the Omni Rangers, Oriquin, technology salvaged from the underwater Galaxy Hunter crash site, and the United State military, complex construction of Alpha Complex. It was the first building on Earth to contain a hybrid of human and alien technology. During its construction, Arcanza was restrained in the military's Blue Area in the Nevada desert, and after its construction the assassin was transferred to a specially-built holding cell in the Complex. Orion Project Two: OmniZords. While construction on Alpha Complex was taking place, the young Rade and Professor Donaldson collaborated on building a massive mechanical defense system that eventually took the shape of five mythological beasts. The Titan, the Sphinx, the Hydra, the Dragon, and the Pegasus, linked to the five Rangers, were designed to protect Alpha Complex from any outside assault, and it was agreed that should the technology prove successful the United States would be given the knowledge of how to build similar machines. Donaldson named these the "OmniZords" and kept them hidden in a mountain holding bay. A second series of five Zords was begun after the first was finished in February 1980 but not finished until two decades later. Orion Project Three: ShadowTech. In September 1980, Donaldson began the major goal of his series of projects in recreating the OmniTech Ability Bands. Without Meridian-Omega to draw power from, Donaldson theorized that his system to draw off a little power from each of the five real OmniTech, thus creating a "shadow" of their abilities. ShadowTech was completed, but it was never tested because a black-feathered falcon, using unnatural strength and speed, broke into Alpha Complex and attempted to get inside Arcanza's cell. The falcon was captured and studied, yielding the first discovery of pseudoine. Some of this pseudoine was injected into a military soldier who volunteered, and he unexpectedly changed into a hideous monster. The Omni Rangers chased the monster into the city of Ivory Glade, where they fought and defeated him. Donaldson later attempted to repeat this metamorphosis, but the soldier was unresponsive to pseudoine injection. Later the soldier freed Arcanza from the holding cell as the villain began exercising his ability to control the minds of the pseudoine-infused. Arcanza quickly hunted down Oriquin and shot him with a gun made from the Black Hole power, but before he could get close he realized he was going to be captured again and fled through a hidden escape passageway in Control Point. On the verge of death, Oriquin realized he was the current wielder of Starlight and used it to teleport himself to safety. Soleron and the other Rangers found both their leader and their enemy missing. Later, Arcanza contacted them openly and took credit for assassinating yet another Omnian lord. He promised to resurface after their twenty-five-year cycle was completed and there would be no resistance to his plans. Orion Project Four: Cryogenesis. Hoping that suspending their life for twenty years would also allow them to use OmniTech for twenty more years after awakening, the five Rangers agreed to be locked in cryogenic suspension. Finally, in December 1980, after three months of listening to their argument, Professor Donaldson agreed and placed Soleron, Talyserys, Pyrial, and Laurasia in a quickly-built cryogenic stage in Alpha Complex. Seraide, however, refused to be frozen last, because she was impregnated by Professor Donaldson. Orion Project Five: Human-Omnian Offspring. In September 1981, Seraide gave birth to the first and only Earth and Omnian hybrid children. The people of Omnis had originated from Earth, so the babies were fully human, but their lineages came from two locations in the universe. They were a set of twins, a boy whom she named Oriquin, after her believed-dead younger half-brother, and Janoa, after her dead mother. Professor Donaldson gave the children away: the boy to his sister Joyce and the girl to his brother Charles. Baby Oriquin was renamed Craig Hopwood. Baby Janoa was renamed Amber Donaldson. Seraide, after giving up her children, entered the cryogenic stage with her companions to reawaken in the year 2000. PART 8: QUICKENING Professor Donaldson went on a personal quest to locate Arcanza. He salvaged the rest of the Galaxy Hunter ship and rebuilt it better and faster than before, naming it Gemini Destiny. Making Eurren Research Center his base of operations, the Professor conducted several behind-the-scenes investigations and collaborated with the United States government on several issues. He and the young Omnian man Rade traveled to New Omnis in pursuit of their enemy, as well. Arcanza created the town of Twilight City and hid in plain sight as he recruited members from all around the world to become his new Rapture Legion, this time around called Twilight Legion. After establishing a firm base, he returned to New Omnis to kidnap his son, the child of High Lady Feilia. On Earth he raised the boy he renamed "Bane" to be hateful and destructive and taught him Omnian fighting styles. He also adopted the child of two Legionnaires, Michael Tracer, to be raised similarly, but kept the two children at separate locations. Michael grew up above ground in Twilight City, Bane grew up underground in Neo Twilight City. Alpha Complex was abandoned, shut down, and sealed up. It became a chilling legend to the children growing up in Ivory Glade. In December 1998, Arcanza sent Michael Tracer to live in Ivory Glade and gave him a very specific mission: reawaken the five people in Alpha Complex and see if they were still able to use OmniTech, then report the findings directly to him. If he was right, and the Omni Rangers were now without the aid of their powers, the final phase of his plan could begin. PART 9: CRUSADE Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, He hath stripped me of my glory, He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: He hath also kindled his wrath against me, His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, He hath put my brethren far from me, My kinsfolk have failed, —Job 19:7-14 |
